Other Information:
Mr. Spellman,MBA, CHE, FMP, CFBE, SPHR is the Program Chair for Hotel/Restaurant Management. He studied Hotel Technology Administration at Nassau Community College in Garden City, NY. Richard earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Hospitality Management from Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, and a Masters of Business Administration from Long Island University (LIU) in New York. He is a Certified Food and Beverage Executive, a Foodservice Management Professional and a Senior Professional of Human Resources. In 2009, he successfully completeted the Certified Hospitality Educator program from the AHLA. Upon graduating FIU, Richard became the youngest General Manager at any of Long Island’s 130 country clubs. He served as Food & Beverage Director for Interstate Hotels and Resorts, the largest hotel contract management company in the US. His management experience also includes exclusive golf clubs, country clubs, yacht clubs caterers and restaurants in Miami, New York and abroad. Mr. Spellman opened then sold a successful retail operation on NY, and brings real world entrepreneurial lessons to the classroom. Additionally, he served as Director of Human Resources for a multi-unit hospitality organization in Suffolk County, NY. He moved to the Charlotte area in 2003.
